bkr® Water Bottle in JetSKU: 15894

IT'S JUST A WATER BOTTLE LIKE YOU'RE JUST A PERSON. Who are you anyway? You're not just a person who accepts logic like leaching chemicals in your drinking water, awkward shaped mouthpieces during your workouts, an island made of plastic with a 700-year zero-interest lease on development, camping equipment as accessory with your super cool outfits. We are bkr® people. Your bkr® ("beaker") bottle is made of glass and is for you to fill. Whatever you want inside. Tap water, bubbly water, orange juice, chocolate milk. Give up your plastic habits. We don't eat things we can't pronounce or marinate our water in polyethylene terephthalate. We've evolved. It’s a bkr®. All clean everything.®
Meet bkr®
bkr® is a glass water bottle with a silicone sleeve.
bkr® was created by two friends in San Francisco who wanted to stop drinking out of disposable plastic bottles and wanted a modern chic reusable alternative that did not exist - so they created it themselves.
Why glass?
Glass does not leach chemicals, glass can be recycled and everything tastes better out of glass - you wouldn't drink your wine out of metal or plastic!
Plastic bottles leach chemicals that have been linked to cancer and other diseases; the effect of bpa replacements is not yet known; plastic takes 700 years to decompose and the energy and fuel spent producing plastic bottles and shipping water is destroying our planet.
Aluminum bottles are lined with plastic; metal bottles make your water taste like metal and are difficult to clean.
Clean Body
Glass is inert and does not leach chemicals.
BPA or Bisphenol A, a chemical found in plastic water bottles, has been linked to an increased risk of cancer, obesity, early onset puberty, and diabetes.
Many plastic products contain BPA replacements, but we don't want to find 10 years from now that those are not safe either.
Tap water is held to more stringent quality standards than bottled water.
Clean World
"Glass comes from nature. It's made from sand, limestone, and soda ash. It's safe for human life and ocean life. And it's endlessly recyclable, so it's sustainable for our blue planet.: - Celine Cousteau
Approximately 1.5 million barrels of oil - enough to run 100,000 cars for a whole year - are used to make plastic water bottles, while transporting these bottles burns even more oil.
The growth in bottled water production has increased water extraction in areas near bottling plants, leading to water shortages that affect nearby consumers and farmers. In addition to the millions of gallons of water used in the plastic-making process, two gallons of water are wasted in the purification process for every gallon that goes into the bottles.
Nearly 90% of water bottles are not recycled and wind up in landfills where it takes thousands of years for the plastic to decompose.
Press/Celebrity Adoration
bkr® is a must-have fashion/design accessory. As seen in: US Weekly, InStyle, W, Shape, New York Times, Lucky, Dwell, Daily Candy, NY Magazine, People, OK! and Star
bkr® is adored by celebrities: Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba, Zoe Saldaña, Hilary Duff, Olivia Wilde, Kate Walsh, Reese Witherspoon, Ashley Greene and Emmy Rossum all have been photographed with a bkr® in hand and celebrity Chef Rick Bayless recently named bkr® his favorite green product.
Selling Points
bkr® has a small mouth much like the disposable bottles people love drinking from - the small mouth also means you do not spill on yourself.
bkr® is dishwasher safe - the entire bottle can go on the top rack and the sleeve can be removed for cleaning but it's not necessary.
bkr® makes a great gift - for bridesmaids, groomsmen, employees, birthdays, mother's day, father's day, valentine's day.
bkr® is durable and it will surprise you how well it holds up - but it is still glass so we recommend that you are careful and treat it like you would your cell phone.
Philanthropy
bkr® gives back. What happens to one of us affects all of us. bkr® invests a portion of all proceeds in initiatives that combat the global water crisis, empower tomorrow's leaders, help in the fight against cancer and support the global causes in which we believe.
bkr® partners: Obakki Foundation uses fashion and creative arts to raise money to bring water and education to people in Africa. Canary Foundation is dedicated to the funding, discovery, and development of tests for early cancer detection.
You don't have to take the bkr®'s sleeve off, it's diswasher safe. But when bkr® needs a spring cleaning it's easy:
